Why Do I Tell Stories?

We live in a world that craves vulnerability and authenticity, but in reality, most of us have a hard time achieving that in any kind of a social setting (To get behind the walls we’ve built up). Yet, when we see it, we often gravitate to it, identify with it, and learn from it. Maybe learn we’re not alone, maybe find encouragement to strive for something we’ve been afraid of. Maybe find the ability to grow and push ourselves past our self-imposed limits. Maybe help us be more vulnerable to impact the lives of those around us. To help us be better friends and neighbors.

In short, the stories I’m drawn to are about purpose and we strive to build trust and relationship with those we work with. Real relationship helps us get to the heart of what matters. To get past the talking points, to be authentic, and allow us to learn and grow from each other.

Biography

Jim is a skilled storyteller and award-winning filmmaker. Among the numerous recognitions of his work are two regional Emmy Awards. An experienced director who got his start as a commercial photographer, Jim tells stories that are engaging and inspiring. He skillfully extracts details and emotion in interviews and in the direction of each scene.

As a speaker and instructor, Jim has shared his skills and experience related to film, storytelling, and photography including as a featured speaker on video storytelling at ESTO, the U.S. Travel Association's Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations, which is the definitive learning and knowledge-sharing forum for marketing professionals in the travel and tourism industry.

Jim's work has represented brands including Where Traveler, Men's Health, Phoenix Magazine, the Colorado Tourism Office, Republic Services, Verizon Wireless, Experience Scottsdale, The Phoenician, Arizona Office of Tourism, The U.S. Army, and Southwest Airlines.
